Register of Exercise Professionals

In just a few months more than 13,000 people have pledged to join the Register of Exercise Professionals, and numbers are growing daily. The introduction of the Register is the start to making the industry a 'true' profession, and it will :

Ensure better service to, and inspire confidence in, customers and other health professionals by offering a level standard of fitness instruction

Recognise the quality and status of instructors – and help to protect jobs, improve conditions and training standards

Create a natural grading system for career progression and personal development

The aim of the Register is to create a framework within which individual instructors can achieve the highest standards of practice. Entry to the Register is by qualification and is fully supported by the Fitness Industry Association (FIA) and SPRITO.

The Register is a non-profit making charity, which exists to promote best practice in the health and fitness industry. Many employers already recognise the value of qualified staff that have joined the Register, and at only £19, the cost of registration has been kept to a minimum. Soon every instructor, teacher, coach and personal trainer in the industry will need to be registered, and it is a pre-requisite for GP referral work. It’s all about raising standards – and it’s about time!
